Welcome to summer 2024, we're so excited to have you back or welcome you to camp for the first time! 

Here on the MKN Totem, you'll find daily details offering you a taste of what goes on at MKN. From sports to meals to events to regular programming (and always some great pics), this is the best way to feel connected to your kids as they embark on the adventure of a lifetime! 

Today, we welcomed 300 Mah-Kee-Nac boys - both new and returning - to our beautiful Berkshires campus. Bus rides were rowdy, drop-offs were quick, and every camper was excited to see their summer home and get this party started!

As campers arrived, they exchanged hugs and high fives and introductions. They got tours of the campus, were shown their bunks, and met their counselors. We played "get to know you" games, then moved on to swim tests. We were able to complete almost all swim tests - the rest will take place tomorrow. 

We had our first huddle of the summer last night. Our huddles are when we gather in front of the lake (Stockbridge Bowl), sit around the beautiful campfire, and...well...huddle up.

Jamie picks a topic to discuss, and this time we spoke about our camp values: Respect, Friendship, Perseverance, Leadership and Shared Pride. 

After our huddle, the Senecas - our eldest campers - enjoyed a moment they've been waiting for for years. They lit lanterns for our annual opening ceremonies and sent them off into the sky, officially kicking off summer 2024.

From there, the kids watched an exciting "welcome to 2024" video, then closed out the day with a famous, Mah-Kee-Nac dance party.  

Everyone settled back into their cabins for the night, had an evening snack (the last of their junk food) and got some rest before beginning our first full day of activities tomorrow.

• You should have received your son's bunk # via email. Include this bunk on the letters you send. 

• The CAMPANION APP is your link to our full stream of daily photos and the ability to send emails to your child. Be sure to download it if you haven't already.
